Toronto Port Power Vessel Operator Permit

Recreational boaters operating a powered vessel within the Port and Harbour of Toronto must be in possession of BOTH a Powered Vessel Operator’s Permit and proof of competency, such as the Sail Canada Basic Cruising logbook or a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. Details are on the Port of Toronto web pages.

This map shows the Toronto Port jurisdiction area. A permit is required for boaters in both the inner and outer harbour areas shown.

To obtain the permit a written and practical test are required. There is a fee. The written test material is reviewed in the slide show, the on-water test is completed during your course.
